The Publisher’s Column: March 2015

Welcome back to Sharpen! As I mentioned last month, we want to keep you coming back for more. To that end we are asking for your feedback, input and your news. We would like to know what types of articles you liked and what you would like to see. Is there something you would like to see covered in Sharpen? You can share your news HERE. If you have feedback or input, please email us HERE.

It’s an exciting time of year for ASMP NY. We recently had our 10th Annual Fine Art Portfolio Review. It was a night of constructive feedback, new connections and networking for 34 fine art reviewers and over 70 of our members who shoot fine art photography. We are planning our commercial portfolio review and have a student portfolio review in the works. In March we are hosting an art buyer panel and have a general member meeting coming up in April.

Check out this month’s features including Moving to Motion by Stephen Mallon and Karlyn Michelson with an interview-style article and some great video clips, articles about getting paid and doing pro-bono work by Jan Klier: No Pay=No Value and Michael Weschler: Standing Out Amongst the Noise: Pro-Bono Work and an article by stylist, Dana De Lara: How Should a Photographer Approach Testing with a Stylist.
